Jan Cathedral of en

The Assumption of the Virgin Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de la Asuncin de Jan) is a Renaissance-style, Roman Catholic cathedral located in Santa Mara Square, opposite the Town Hall and the Episcopal Palace, in the center of Jan, region of Andalusia, Spain.

The current cathedral was conceived in the 16th century to replace the previous 15th century Gothic temple. Construction lasted for several centuries, despite the original idea was kept. The capitular room and the sacristy stand out, which are the masterpiece of Andrs de Vandelvira, and one of the most important works of the Spanish Renaissance. Also outstanding is its main facade, one of the main works of the Spanish Baroque, built after the consecration of the temple in 1660 based on the design of Eufrasio Lpez de Rojas. Likewise, the neoclassical choir stands out due to its beauty and the large number of seats that make it one of the largest in Spain. Once the building works were completed, they continued in the following centuries, mainly in the interior decoration and the chapels. Furthermore, as a consequence of the Lisbon earthquake of 1755, consolidation works were necessary on the north facade, as well as the construction of the Sagrario church.

It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary since the consecration, in 1246, of the old Mosque of the Muslim city, after its conquest by the holy king Ferdinand III of Castile. Inside it, among other works of art and religious objects, the relic of the Holy Face or La Vernica , specifically the true face of Jesus Christ, which could be captured on the canvas in which Saint Veronica dried her face during his passion. Its kept in the Main Chapel, and a public veneration of the faithful is exposed every Friday.

In 2008, the procedure for the cathedral of Jan to be declared World Heritage Site, considering that it served as a model for the construction of other cathedrals in Spain and the Americas. On January 27, 2012 the Jan Cathedral (extension of the Renaissance monumental complex of beda and Baeza) was inscribed on the Spanish Indicative List of World Heritage Site, in the category of cultural property (No. ref 5667).

Professional wrestling career of en

Juan Barrn made his professional wrestling debut on October 2, 1966 at only 14 years of age, after training under Mexico's most renowned wrestling trainer Diablo Velazco. Barrn adopted a Native American character while wrestling called "Gran Cochisse" ("The Great Cochise") named after the Apache chief Cochise. Gran Cochisse wore the traditional feathered headdresses, facepaint and often carried a tomahawk with him to the ring to support the character. Gran Cochisse formed a regular tag team with Aguila India ("Indian Eagle"), to form a very popular and successful tag team. Together the team held the Occidente (western) Tag Team Championship at least once.

It was not until 1984, a full 18 years after his debut that Gran Cochisse won his first major singles title when he defeated El Satnico on AUgust 18, 1984 to win the NWA World Middleweight Championship. His first reign with the title only lasted 27 days, as he lost it to Satnico on September 14 that same year as part of a long running feud between the two. Cochisse regained the title from Satnico only a few weeks later on September 30, 1984 and held it until November 18, 1984 before losing it to Gran Hamada Gran Cochisse's third and final run with the NWA World Middleweight Championship began on May 18, 1986 when he defeated Chamaco Valaguez to win the title and lasted 152 days, longer than his previous two reigns combined, until he was pinned by Kung Fu on October 17, 1986 and lost the belt. In the latter years of the 1980s Gran Cochisse began working for the Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) where he became the UWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Champion on September 16, 1988 by defeating Blue Panther. His run with the UWA title lasted for 225 days in total, until April 29, 1989 when he was beaten by Ringo Mendoza. In the early part of the 1990s Barrn worked as an enmascarado, or masked, character called Espectro de Ultratumba ("The Ghost from beyond the grave") but by then it was obvious that his career as an active wrestler was winding down. In the late 1990s Gran Cochisse greatly reduced his schedule and began working full-time training wrestlers.

Le Vaisseau d'Or Christ en Croix of queen bed

chafaud solennel geste noir, devant

Lequel je me courbais, saintement idoltre.

Or, l'autre soir, l'heure o le cri-cri foltre,

Et de pltre croul parmi les primevres;

Et je restai l, morne, avec les yeux pensifs,

Et j'entendais en moi des marteaux convulsifs

Renfoncer les clous noirs des intimes Calvaires!

Translation by Konrad Bongard

The gypsum Jesus always stalled me in my stepsLike a curse at the old convent door;Crouching meekly, I bend to exalt an idolWhose forgiveness I do not implore.

Not long ago, at the crickets' hour, I roamed dimMeadows in a restful reverieReciting 'Eloa', with my hair worn by the windAnd no audience save for the trees.

But now, as I lie with knees bent beneath Christ's scaffold,I see his crumbling mortar crossWith its plaster buried in the roses, and am saddened -

For if I listen close enough, I can almost hearThe sound of coal-black nails being wrung inTo his wrists, the savage piercing of Longinus' spear.
